Can you believe it? We made it to Australia! It was an 11-day passage at sea. We arrived in Cairns (pronounced Cans), Australia on September 13 and we were so glad to make landfall.

Along with our companion ship, Manatee of Hamble, we finished sailing through the South Pacific Ocean, crossed the Coral Sea, and entered the Great Barrier Reef. The seas and wind were generally in our favor, although sometimes rough and sometimes lacking wind. That seems to be the way the wind blows on these crossings.

This begins a significant change as the island hopping days of the South Pacific give way to exploring major countries and continents… When we leave Cairns, in about three weeks, we will go north to Thursday Island and then west through the Torres Strait and then north again towards Singapore.

Hi Ken & Paula, This is Fred & Judy from Wings. Just stumbled onto your blog when one of your photos came up on Blogger Play.

It's great to see the shots from PNW and of your travels; we have been to some of the same places.
Looks like you are having a good trip.

Fred & Judy, SV Wings, Singapore

We are from Seattle and now keeping Wings in Singapore (Raffles Marina) while we work in Bangkok for a while. Maybe we'll see you when you pass through.

Ken and Paula,

Wow, what an adventure. You have been living the dream for over a year now, and no hurries for the rest of it.

You are truly an inspiration. Need and extra crew hand for any of it?

Pat
