Happy New Year from Melaque. in Bahia d Navidad. We left Chacala on December 21. We have met some of the most wonderful people along the way! We next spent a few nights in La Cruz which is about 20 miles from Puerto Vallarta. No room at the marinas in PV so we took the local bus into town to explore and provision. Using the public transportation is cheap and a great way to see the area and meet the locals. The bus ride cost about $1.80. (18 pesos). We left PV on the 24th and tried to anchor on the south shore of Banderas Bay, but too rough and rolly.
Spent Christmas eve in Yelapa and were disappointed that we couldn’t explore the area as our anchorage was too rough. Yelapa is where they filmed the beach scene with Bo Derek in the film 10.
Christmas morning we sailed around Cape Corrientes, under high seas and Christmas music playing. We have begun listening to music while we sail and it is quite nice, almost spiritual with the right CD.
We arrived at a quaint cove, Ipala, for Christmas day where we went ashore for a lobster dinner ($20.00 for 2 lobsters and all the trimmings).
Although we missed our kids and grandkids terribly, we had a nice Christmas overlooking the bay. Next stop was Tenacitita, which we sailed in on the Gennaker. We spent several days in the beautiful bay. One morning we took the dinghy up the jungle river. Everyday…a new adventure…
