Can you believe it? We made it to Australia! It was an 11-day passage at sea. We arrived in Cairns (pronounced Cans), Australia on September 13 and we were so glad to make landfall.

Along with our companion ship, Manatee of Hamble, we finished sailing through the South Pacific Ocean, crossed the Coral Sea, and entered the Great Barrier Reef. The seas and wind were generally in our favor, although sometimes rough and sometimes lacking wind. That seems to be the way the wind blows on these crossings.

This begins a significant change as the island hopping days of the South Pacific give way to exploring major countries and continents… When we leave Cairns, in about three weeks, we will go north to Thursday Island and then west through the Torres Strait and then north again towards Singapore.
