Hello everyone, we are happy, healthy, and still having fun.

The 150 mile journey from Malaysia to Thailand led us through several beautiful islands where we stopped and anchored in the evenings.

We are now preparing for our long, 5000 mile, passage across the Indian Ocean and up the Red Sea, through the Suez Canal and into Egypt. We will make a short stop at the Maldive Islands and in Yemen at Aden. It should take us about 40 days to get to Port Said in Egypt. WOW!

We wish you all a healthy and Happy New Year!

Happy Holidays to all. Wishing you the best from the beautiful island of Langkawi, Malaysia. We had a stormy 4 day sail from Singapore, but the islands here are so warm and tropical, lush and green..the arrival makes the travel worthwhile. We had to dodge freighters and outrun fishing boats but we arrived safely, steering without the auto pilot the entire way. Our new auto pilot (shipped to us from West Marine) should arrive soon. Once Ken installs it, we will be ready to head to our next destination, Phuket, Thailand.

Leaving Singapore.

Storms the entire passage.

Cool bridge. We took a cable car to the top of this mountain.

We arrived in Malaysia after what seemed like a very long passage (1,000 miles ) from Bali. It seemed long because we were beating against the wind, waves and currents most of the time. We were caught in several thunderstorms, one of which lasted for several days. We pretty much had to motor or motorsail all but a few hours.

On day nine of the journey, the autopilot broke so we had to steer the boat manually which was hard against the high seas and winds while dodging the massive freighters that were coming at us from all directions. It became particularly tedious and tiresome during the night when there was very limited visibility. We had to focus very carefully on the instruments in order to stay on course.

We found respite at the lovely Sebana Cove Marina/Resort where we stayed for a week. The resort has a restaurant, swimming pool, golf course, sauna and a well protected dock.

We took a shuttle bus ride to the small town that is nearby to get porvisions and the next day we took a 45 min ferry ride to the exotic city of Singapore. We explored the city and celebrated Paula’s Birthday at the famous Raffles Hotel with a Singapore Sling. Raffles was built by the British over 120 years ago and they spared no expenses. The hotel is amazing.

We leave on Dec. 8 and head up the Melacca Strait to Langkawi, our last island stop in Malaysia before we get to the West Coast of Thailand.
