The 435 mile passage from Tonga to Fiji was relatively uneventful. We had a bright full moon and flat seas but NO wind so we had to motor the majority of the time. Fiji is very beautiful and tropical. It rained a lot when we were on the island of Vanua Levu. We island hopped our way down to the largest island, Viti Levu, where we stayed in Suva for several days. Suva is a very large city with great ethnic diversity. We then sailed to the western islands where we stayed a week. This side of Fiji was hot and California dry. About 3 weeks in all for Fiji.

Our next passage took us 575 miles to the islands of Vanuatu. The crossing was windy and rough but we were under sail the majority of the way. Suzanne2 is feeling sore after over a year at sea. The transmission is not happy, the batteries are old and tired and don’t stay charged, she needs new bottom paint, a scrub and shine, rust removal, and of course the sail still needs proper repair. We will stay in Vanuatu a few weeks exploring the islands then on for a long passage (1350 nm or about 12 days at sea) to Cairns, Australia to rejuvenate
